About
About John Moore

I create visionary impressionist works in acrylics, oils, mixed media, photography, and digital forms—each piece an invitation to journey inward. My art emerges from over a decade of practicing shamanism, meditation, and folk magic, and reflects the landscapes I've encountered in both the physical and visionary realms.
My path to this work began with a personal health crisis that led me to shamanism as a practice of survival and transformation. As a lifelong meditator with roots in Tantric Buddhism, I'd always been drawn to the exploration of consciousness, but shamanism gave me a home in visionary practice. During my training, I learned to translate what I witnessed in shamanic journeys into visual form, and discovered that this creative process opened doors to deeper parts of myself I hadn't known existed. My aunt, an established watercolor artist in Boston, planted early seeds—visiting her studio years ago, I sensed the sacred space where inner vision becomes tangible.
My high school music teacher once told me, "The Arts are the only way we truly get to see what's inside people." That insight has stayed with me for decades. Whatever our creative endeavor, creation and creativity are part of the unfoldment of our true selves. I paint what I see in meditation and journey work, not to document, but to share—to create openings where others might glimpse their own depths.

Working from rural Maine, surrounded by forest and the quiet rhythm of the natural world, I'm constantly reminded that we're part of something larger than ourselves. My work is meditative yet evocative, meant to help you connect with the deeper currents that flow through us and the world around us. Each piece is an anchor point, a place where the boundary between the seen and unseen grows thin.
My piece, Allfather, was recently exhibited, and I continue to explore the intersection of spirit, nature, and the creative process. If my work resonates with you, I'd be honored to have it accompany you on your own journey inward.
